Mt. Crested Butte and the surrounding area is the perfect place to indulge your fun spirit! Mt. Crested Butte and surrounding areas have over 500 miles of mountain and dirt biking terrain, as well as hundreds of hiking trails and backcountry passes for four wheeling. In addition, the valley is home to numerous rivers and creeks, both for whitewater enthusiasts and fishing during several months out of the year. Probably the reason it's "Colorado's best" - not only are is it a haven for numerous winter activities, but over the years the popularity has grown for the year-round outdoor recreation. Playing here has become a prerequisite for the locals lifestyle, and although it's tough to not let it get in the way of everyday life, it's definitely high on their priority list!
Transportation
Mt. Crested Butte is located in Gunnison County, 31 miles north of the City of Gunnison, Colorado, on Highway 135, and just three miles north of the town of Crested Butte. You can arrive by air at the Gunnison-Crested Butte Regional Airport, or during the warmer months, you can drive over one of Colorado's beautiful scenic passes. All secondary passes into Mt. Crested Butte are closed during the winter months. During the winter you can drive via highway 50 from the West or East. In the town of Gunnison, turn North on Highway 135. The pavement ends just past Mt. Crested Butte, but it is where the fun and adventure begins.

Everyone needs a little fuel for their adventures. Stop in at some local restaurants and enjoy some of the best in-house barbecue, salads, milkshakes, burgers and more. Need a filling breakfast try the local all you can eat buffet or end your day playing pool.
