General

This home was purchased in 2007 as a get-away retreat for rest and relaxation. It so well fulfilled our goal that we named it Tranquility. We invite you to experience the character of our home, the outdoor adventure and leisure activities, and the beauty and ambiance of Big Canoe.

As you enter the front door of this charming house, you’ll start smiling when greeted by the lovely decor and beautiful artwork. You will immediately feel so at ease that you will want to kick-off your shoes, lean back in one of the comfortable sofas, and just enjoy the flavor of this home. Alternately, you might decide to take a short drive around Big Canoe to see the fitness center, well-manicured golf course, outdoor pools, or the lake and its sandy beach.

Tranquility is on a quiet, “dead-end” cul-de-sac. While outside you can hear the enchanting melody of birds chirping and the sounds of rustling leaves as the wind blows gently through the tree tops. While enjoying the deck or taking a walk through the backyard, you can enjoy the pleasant sound of the rambling creek that runs into nearby Lake Petit, which surrounds the Robins Nest cul-de-sac.

No matter what activities you choose for your Big Canoe vacation, Tranquility is the perfect place to relax or ‘escape’ for a short weekend, family vacation, wedding, or reunion. ‘Tranquility’ at Big Canoe will be your special ‘home away from home,’ a delightful and cozy getaway that takes you away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

Additional information

Tranquility is located in the scenic foothills of the North Georgia mountains with elevations exceeding 3,000 feet. Big Canoe consists of 8,000 acres of dramatic mountain peaks and ridges, and natural woodland forests. In addition, Big Canoe is also an Audubon Society Wildlife Sanctuary where you can see deer, wild turkeys, and other wildlife at any given turn in the road.

If the family chef needs a well-deserved break, Big Canoe has several dining options to meet your needs. Appalachia Grill, just outside the gates of Big Canoe, is a wonderful dinner option with a full bar and great wine list, as well as a wide-ranging menu with something for everyone. It is definitely our top recommendation for dining out!

Lake Sconti Restaurant at the Golf Club serves dinner several nights a week and a champagne brunch on Sunday. For Italian flavor, Piazza is in the heart of Big Canoe at Wolfscratch Village, and Trevi Pizzaria is located a short drive from the gate. Mary's Bread Basket is a short distance from Big Canoe, and offers wonderful sandwiches, yummy bread and fabulous desserts.

Upon entering our home, you will experience the Great Room’s lovely sitting area with stacked, rock fireplace, 50' plasma television and home theater setup, and an adjacent computer (monitor, printer, and separate fax).

The Great Room extends into the Dining Room and an open kitchen that is fully equipped and stocked with all the staples (from salt to wax paper, hot chocolate to marshmallows) that you might want or need.

A lovely Sun Room sits outside right off the Great Room and provides a very relaxing atmosphere. You will be able to sit on the hanging swing and listen to the sounds of the rambling creek, song of the birds, and deer rustling in the woods. A deck is also accessible to the Sun Room, also just off the Great Room. Here a gas grill is provided with lovely sitting areas for family entertaining.

A loft overlooking the Great Room has an office computer with high speed internet access, as well as Wi-Fi. If you prefer to bring your own laptop, you can use the high speed wireless internet. Here is an area where children may entertain themselves by playing some of our age appropriate board or video games or viewing one of the DVD’s in our extensive video library.

The three spacious bedrooms are located one on each floor for privacy, and there are also three full baths. Plasma televisions are located in each bedroom, as well as in the exercise room, dining room, and great room.

The lower level sports an amazing, well-equipped Exercise Room with a 50' wide screen television and a convertible full-sized, pull-out futon.
