Additional information

Unplug your kids for a change. No TV on purpose! Be transported back to the child in you, as you discover the treehouse experience with your children.

The number of windows and lush gardens all around are magical. You really have to see it in 3D to appreciate it.

There is no sacrifice of comforts either, with a warm shower and thoughtfully designed and stocked kitchen. You will be amazed to llive this comfortably this high up in the trees!

If you care to even leave the treehouse, you can visit the Hawaiian Volcanoes National Park just 5 miles up the road.

You are out in the forest….it's a bit like camping, but you have all the cozy comforts in a romantic, picturesque Hawaiian rain forest: kitchen with fridge and 2-burner stove, hot water shower, regular flush toilet, mood setting open faced fireplace with kindling and lots of cut wood.

Go upstairs…. A comfortable Cal King bed with windows above for star-viewing awaits you.

From the Master bedroom up the Captain's ladder to the double-futon loft is another large window to the sky. Sleeping for the 5th person is available on the living room couch, a new single bed mattress. (All mattresses are new.)

The moss and fern lined exotic trail (lit by a string of festive lights at night) from your private car parking weaves uninvasively through the Hawaiian forest to the 28 steps that will take you up to your treehouse adventure.

FUN! A 50 foot walkway bends its way through the top of trees with a comfy place to sit and enjoy your morning coffee with the sounds of birds and view of the treehouse.

This could be one of your BEST adventures ever! Come visit and take it off your bucket list.

Activities

ActivitiesVolcano Village is home to independent spirits: farmers, creative minds, inquisitive scientists and those who seek inspiration in the peace of the rainforest and the power of nature's might.

Transportation

TransportationTravel to Kona International Airport (KOA) in Kona to the west, or Hilo International Airport (ITO) in Hilo to the east. Most visitors arrive in Kona. There is also the option of flying into Honolulu International Airport (HNL) on Oahu first and then taking a short, 45-50 minute flight to Hawaii Island.

Getting to Hawaii Island is easier than ever with daily direct flights into Kona International Airport. Major air carriers from Canada, the U.S. and Japan fly directly into Kona. Most of the direct flights are from the U.S. West Coast — mostly Los Angeles and San Francisco — plus Denver, Phoenix, Salt Lake City and Chicago, and internationally from Tokyo. Some seasonal carriers also make the trip with charters.

We recommend a rental car for flexibility and ease, and we strongly suggest booking before you arrive. All the major rental companies are found on Hawaii Island. There are also guided tours of every type from bus tours and taxis to shuttle services and private limos. Rental car agencies are located at the Kona and Hilo International Airports as well as some resorts. Rental car companies are located just a short distance from both inter-island terminals. Taxis and other ground transportation are available curbside.

Food & Drink

Food & DrinkThere are six good places to eat in Volcano Village. All restaurants are locally owned, and you will (luckily) find no big chain restaurants here. Food is a bit more expensive here compared to other places on the Big Island, but the quality of the food is good and the locals friendly. Considering the alternative of a long drive to Hilo and the great scenery, we heartily recommend dining in Volcano.
