Additional information
You don't need to pay $100 for a place to sleep - especially when site seeing all day.
PLEASE NOTE: Our prices include TAT/GET tax - so there are no additional fees after arrival.
Aloha! If you are trying to see Hawaii on a budget, this is the place for you. This CLEAN, private studio is located on the side of a larger home and it is located in a coastal community called Kalapana - Seaview Estates, about 15-20 minutes from Pahoa.
It is a nice place to stay because it is less expensive - as it is part of a larger building - so you get many of the amenities that you would get if renting a large home.
It's location is very near the popular Kehena Beach & Kapoho Tide pools and that's where most tourists wish to stay.
The best part is that you don't have to pay the high fees that you would have to pay to stay the night in these places and you are so close to them.
It is also just 10 minutes from the lava flows in Kalapana. This is a wonderful location to see Volcanoes National Park as well, which is less than 1 hour away.
It has been a great place to to a world full of visitors from Canada, Germany, Israel, China, India, Japan, New Zealand, Australia, Europe, and others for 2 years now. If you are looking for value, this is the place for you.
If you are a family of 1-4 people, needing a fully furnished completely private studio w/ private bath/kitchenette. This unit has two double beds, Direct TV, landline w/ free long distance, WiFi internet.
The small kitchenette has MW, hotplate, pans, coffee maker, utensils, and a small refrigerator. There is a rock BBQ outside as well.
We do rent for a month at a time at a discounted rate.
You can see the ocean from the studio 10 blocks away. It is walking distance to the Hele-on bus that will take you to Hilo for just $1.00 and it comes by 3x/day.
Many people come to the Puna district ( Kehena Beach, Kapoho, Pahoa and Kalapana) for the sunshine, peace and quiet, for nature walks, yoga and more. Puna is also known to get less rain than other ares on the island.
.
Puna is also a great place to see the active lava flows and to see Kilauea Volcano , the Hawaiian jungles, tropical rainforests, beautiful coastal views, geothermically heated ponds, snorkeling.
This is the place for water lovers and we have what you need: snorkeling equipment, boogie boards, noodles for your swimming pleasure... and did you know that the best and safest snorkeling area is just down the road in the Kapoho Tide pools?
You can easily navigate all of these places from Coconut Palms, it has come to be a very popular spot 'right in the center of all of these attractions'.
Now, for those of you who are seeking night time entertainment, check out 'Uncles Tiki Bar' if you want to sip a beer and listen to live Hawaiian/Jawaiian/Country music..just down the road from us.
Our renters love Coconut Palms of Kalapana and you will too - we guarantee it.

Activities
Volcano Village is home to independent spirits: farmers, creative minds, inquisitive scientists and those who seek inspiration in the peace of the rainforest and the power of nature's might.Transportation
Travel to Kona International Airport (KOA) in Kona to the west, or Hilo International Airport (ITO) in Hilo to the east. Most visitors arrive in Kona. There is also the option of flying into Honolulu International Airport (HNL) on Oahu first and then taking a short, 45-50 minute flight to Hawaii Island. Getting to Hawaii Island is easier than ever with daily direct flights into Kona International Airport. Major air carriers from Canada, the U.S. and Japan fly directly into Kona. Most of the direct flights are from the U.S. West Coast — mostly Los Angeles and San Francisco — plus Denver, Phoenix, Salt Lake City and Chicago, and internationally from Tokyo. Some seasonal carriers also make the trip with charters. We recommend a rental car for flexibility and ease, and we strongly suggest booking before you arrive. All the major rental companies are found on Hawaii Island. There are also guided tours of every type from bus tours and taxis to shuttle services and private limos. Rental car agencies are located at the Kona and Hilo International Airports as well as some resorts. Rental car companies are located just a short distance from both inter-island terminals. Taxis and other ground transportation are available curbside.Food & Drink
There are six good places to eat in Volcano Village. All restaurants are locally owned, and you will (luckily) find no big chain restaurants here. Food is a bit more expensive here compared to other places on the Big Island, but the quality of the food is good and the locals friendly. Considering the alternative of a long drive to Hilo and the great scenery, we heartily recommend dining in Volcano.Read more
