Crested Butte is truly a gem that is not well publicized and is a world class mountain without all the hustle and bustle of other ski areas.
The mountain is a destination for world class extreme skiers as well as a kid friendly family ski mountain. Plus Mt. Crested Butte never has the crowds and lift lines of other similar ski resorts.
There is a free shuttle that runs from the ski mountain to the town of Crested Butte every 15 minutes.
The town of Crested Butte is a well preserved old mining town which has maintained it's wonderful historic character and has not been taken over by mega resorts.
There are numerous great dining options both in town and at the ski base.
Mt. Crested Butte (ski area) and the town of Crested Butte are only 3 miles apart. Crested Butte is very laid back with a wonderful community feel.
There is always some kind of festival or celebration going on both winter and summer.
The locals are warm and friendly and love to share their mountain Shangrila with visitors. So come ski, hike, bike, 4 wheel, white water raft, rock climb or just relax in this amazing mountain setting.
